Building for a Cause: Rebuilding the Craven Cancer Classic Website with AI & Code in English

This past weekend, I took a detour from ThinkCode to apply my AI-assisted development workflow to a project that hits close to home—rebuilding the website for the Craven Cancer Classic (CCC).
This annual golf tournament isn’t just an event; it’s a tribute to those who have battled cancer, including my father, Scott Davenport Sr., whose memory is honored through this cause. The CCC raises funds to help families facing financial hardships due to cancer treatments, and I wanted to ensure its online presence reflects its impact.
Leveraging AI to Build Faster
At ThinkCode.ai, my focus is on using AI to write, debug, and deploy production-ready applications in plain English. Instead of manually crafting every line of code, I let AI handle the heavy lifting—breaking down problems, generating code, and iterating faster than ever.
With this AI-driven approach, I managed to rebuild the core components of the CCC site in a single weekend. Here’s what I accomplished:
Weekend Achievements
1️⃣ Landing Page Development
- Designed a modern, responsive landing page using Next.js and TailwindCSS.
- Ensured fast loading times and mobile-first design for better user engagement.
- Incorporated a clear call to action (CTA) to drive donations and sponsorships.
2️⃣ Admin Portal for Easy Content Management
- Built a secure backend admin portal for non-technical users to update event details.
- Leveraged AI-generated React components for quick development.
- Implemented authentication and role-based access to keep admin tools secure.
3️⃣ Cloudinary Integration for Sponsor Videos
- Integrated Cloudinary to handle sponsor video uploads dynamically.
- Optimized video streaming to ensure smooth playback on all devices.
- Created an automated workflow to process and display sponsor content without manual intervention.
Technical Insights
- Tech Stack: Next.js, React, TailwindCSS, Firebase, Cloudinary.
- AI-Powered Development: Used Cursor, Claude, and GPT-4 to write and refine code.
- Deployment: Hosted on Vercel for fast and scalable performance.
- Security: Implemented auth layers to protect admin access.
Looking Ahead
This was just the beginning. Future updates will include:
- Online donation processing with Stripe integration.
- Automated photo galleries for event highlights.
- AI-powered analytics to track user engagement and optimize donation conversion.
More than just a website rebuild, this project represents the kind of work I want to do with ThinkCode—leveraging AI to build impactful projects, faster and more efficiently than ever.
